How to Create a Quality Podcast
Podcasts are very effective ways to voice the opinions of one or one being interviewed. However a few characteristics of a podcast separate a low quality podcast from a high quality one. The sound quality of a podcast is very important. If you and/or the person being interviewed cannot be heard clearly what's the point of making the podcast. Try to keep the mic a fist's length away from the mouth of the person speaking. Furthermore to be more professional add a secondary music track. If you are going to interview someone ask good questions. Make sure your questions require a long response rather than just a yes, no, or just a one worded answer. Often times ask questions that use "why". In addition, make sure the questions are on topic. You can't ask about ones favorite subject then switch to what they like about their pet. Editing is also imperative. If someone is stuttering a lot or repeating useless words like "um' or "uh" edit it out to keep the smoothness of the podcast. Furthermore if there is a period of "dead space" or no talking edit that out. Finally organization is vital. Don't just jump into the interview. Think of it like an essay. First you have your introduction where you introduce yourself, the person being interviewed, and what the podcast is about. Then you go on to the body, where you ask your questions. Finally you conclude the podcast.
